Term 2 Week 4 & 5

This blog covers the exciting learning we have done over the last two weeks.

The students experimented with literacy learning outdoors.
We have continued to learn fun exciting songs in kapa haka.
For arts Friday the students created their own shape monster. The students used a combination of rectangles, triangles, squares and circles to create their unique looking monster.
We have also been keeping our fitness up by completing an obstacle course which was designed to practice things we have been learning in our PMP sessions on a Friday.
Construction and teamwork have been at the heart of investigation time during the two weeks.
On Tuesday Week Five Room 14 was lucky to have Mr D join them for a writing session. He showed us his very special flying tea bag experiment. This would be a great thing to ask your children about at home. It was lots of fun and a great topic to write about too.
Today Room 14 were very lucky to visit the Life Education truck. We split the class in half and went in two separate groups. The students got to meet Harold the Giraffe, experience the changing light colours and learn about keeping ourselves healthy. We will be visiting the truck again next Thursday.
One aspect of our Life Education visit was learning about all the things our bodies need to be healthy. The students took it in turns to add a picture to the puzzle.
Another part of our adventure on the Life Education truck was learning about where food comes from. We learnt which ones we should have all the time, some of the time and not very often. The students were then given an item of food and had to decide if it came from the ground, from an animal or from mixed ingredients.
