Term 1 Week 4
This week Room 14 were lucky to welcome to Thomas to our class
To go with our butterflies we made last week. On Monday we created caterpillars using egg cartons, googly eyes and pipe cleaners. It was very good fine motor skills practice threading the pipe cleaners through the holes.
This week in Room 14 we have had a big focus on students taking on the roll of leading and speaking in front of the class whether that was helping to be the pointer for the big book, sharing their Wiggles adventure or speaking about what they had done during Investigation time.
Investigation time was really exciting this week with students allowing their imaginations to create fun learning opportunities.
As part of our investigative learning today we learnt about primary colours (red, yellow and blue). We then made handprint art to see what happens when we mix two primary colours together. The students really enjoyed rubbing their two different painted hands together to make a new colour. The next day we finished our handprint primary colour mixing pictures. The students had to use their letter knowledge to find the correct label to put under each colour.
On Friday Mr D came in and joined Room 14 for a morning move, music and wiggle session.
In the middle session on Friday Tawa school hosted its first Fale Sports days for the year. Each student was in its Fale team moving around the school trying out sports and games.
