Term 1 Week 3

This week we were lucky to welcome Yaya to Room 14.
We continued with our swimming sessions this week. This week as well as developing water confidence further, students were practising their backward floating starfish.
On Monday as a way to practise our fine motor skills the students iced and decorated cup cakes
We also combined practising our fine motor skills and literacy skills together to make our names out of play dough.
On Thursday for maths strand we did a statistical investigation into the eye colours in our class. Firstly, the students looked in a mirror to identify their eye colour and then they coloured in an eye picture to match. The students then took it in turns to place their picture in the right column. When we finished we counted how many of each we had and labeled our findings. The students then worked out that we had 8 more students with brown eyes than students with blue eyes.
This week we have been learning to read and write the word 'can'. We have used this word as a focus for our writing and letter formation. In our writing books our focus was on using finger spaces between our words and learning to use word cards and hear and record sounds in words.

For our Friday PMP session we continued to work on our gross motor skills and balance. We also ended the session with some giant parachute fun.
This week we having been adding the finishing touches to art work to make it ready to be displayed on the walls. Please come in and have a look at our cool butterfly, rocket and balloon displays.
