Term 2 Weeks 9 &10
It has been a very busy final two weeks of the term.
We continued with our Matariki celebrations by making finger dot paintings, Matariki lanterns and describing what makes us a star.
We had our final football sessions in week 9. Where we were learning about how to shoot a ball into the goal.
Friday arts have been full of great imaginative art. Students have created Gerald the Giraffe pictures inspired by our Life Education truck visit. We made Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Tree's inspired by the story. We also looked at how we could make a mysterious bird by using pastels and lines.
We have also had lots of fun investigating at the craft table. We have created rockets that blast off into the sky. Floating boats using skewers and cut up flutter boards. Puppets using wooden spoons and craft materials.
We had fun investigating the school robots. The students were set a challenge to build a obstacle course to guide the robot through. After completing their build the students then took it in turns driving the robot through the course trying to get it from start to finish without touching the sides. The students displayed great team work and encouragement throughout the session.
Our amazing PMP instructor Rachael made a special outer space themed PMP session. We used our imagination that whilst moving through, on and under the equipment of the PMP circuit we were travelling through the galaxy.
The end of the term also meant that we had to say goodbye to some students in Room 14. Most of the students we are saying goodbye to have graduated to Room 8. One student moving to the Montessori class and a few are leaving Tawa school to continue their learning adventures elsewhere.
