Term 2 Week 1
Room 14 welcomed 15 new students to the class this week. On Friday the students received their welcome to school books funded by our amazing Home and School Committee.
The term started with a pÅwhiri to welcome all our new students, families and teachers to the school.
On Monday afternoon the students had their first swimming session for the term. The focus for these sessions are having fun and developing water confidence.
The students have been engaged in lots of learning opportunities this week during investigation time. This has allowed them to make connections with their new class mates by finding common interests.
On Tuesday we had a Kelly Sports taster session. Room 14 enjoyed the session where they got to experiment with a variety of different sports equipment.
With some beautiful weather week, Room 14 went out and had cross country practices. It was great to see the students trying their best around the course.
In remembrance of ANZAC day the students created their own special poppy paintings.
On Friday Morning our principal Mr D came and joined Room 14 for some singing and dancing.
Every Friday the students will participate in a PMP session. The Perceptual Motor Programme (PMP) is a step-by-step programme, designed and individualised for the development of PERCEPTUAL KNOWLEDGE and JUDGEMENT. Perceptual knowledge/judgement comes from physical and sensory experiences that are repeated over and over. The perceptions that are formed over time help determine how children react to their environment, to others, and to new ideas.
On Friday for our art activity we designed our own t-shirts inspired by our big book for the week. We wrote our names on our t-shirts then made some designs using pastels.
We then used dye to cover our t-shirt designs.
We think we have some future fashion designers in Room 14.
